The Florence Prayer

In the Catholic Church, these candles are lit in memory of the dead, and prayers are offered with each flickering wick. As the Duomo filled with visitors, many still stopped to light a candle and offer a moment of silence to a loved one that is no longer with them. This photo, though not a typical choice for a guest room wall perhaps, might be set on a shelf or bookcase next to a relic from a loved one that has passed as a way to offer stillness to their memory.
